You Don't Get to Decide Who Needs Your Story

📅 July 16 ⏱️ 5 min read 🌱 What Healthy Actually Looks Like

Have you ever noticed how quickly we dismiss our own story?

We say things like...

"It's nothing special."

"Nobody wants to hear that."

"Other people have been through much worse."

Maybe that's true.

Maybe someone has.

But nobody has lived your story.

We don't get to decide whether our story has value.

We only get to decide whether we're willing to share it.

The more people I sit down with on Behind the X's & O's...

The more I realize something.

The moments they almost skipped...

Are usually the moments everyone else remembers.

They think the lesson is in the success.

The audience finds the lesson in the struggle.

They think the business is the story.

The audience realizes the person is.

We tend to underestimate the parts of our story we've lived the longest.

Because they've become normal to us.

But normal doesn't mean meaningless.

Somewhere today...

Someone is facing a chapter you've already survived.

They don't need you to have all the answers.

They just need to know someone else found a way to keep going.

That's why I don't believe stories are measured by how extraordinary they are.

I believe they're measured by how honestly they're told.

The longer we build this business...

The more conversations I have...

The more convinced I become that ordinary people are carrying extraordinary stories.

Most of them just don't realize it yet.

You don't get to decide who needs your story.

You only get to decide whether you'll be willing to tell it.

What Healthy Actually Looks Like

Healthy people stop comparing their story to everyone else's. They understand that every journey has value because every journey has something to teach. What feels ordinary to you may be exactly what someone else needs to hear.

Don't underestimate the chapters you've already lived. You may never know who finds hope simply because you were willing to tell your story honestly.
