What is DTG Printing?
Direct-to-Garment (DTG) is an advanced printing process that uses a specialized wide-format printer to apply water-based inks directly onto fabric. These inks, combined with a unique pretreatment solution, create stunning, full-color prints that sit beautifully on top of garments.

At Red Alpha Custom Prints, we use the Epson F2100 commercial DTG printer, designed to produce professional-quality prints on both light and dark garments. Whether you need a bold design or a photo-quality image, our setup ensures your designs look amazing.

DTG FAQ

1. When should I choose DTG over screen printing?
DTG is perfect for small orders or designs with intricate details, full-color graphics, or photographs. If you only need a few shirts, DTG is the way to go!

Note: While DTG produces vibrant prints, there are some limitations. Colors like chrome, fluorescents, and neons can be challenging due to the CMYK printing process. We’ll let you know upfront if there are any issues matching your desired colors.

2. What file type should I submit for my artwork?
To ensure the best print quality, please provide:

• Preferred Format: PNG with a transparent background, sized to the desired print dimensions, and a minimum resolution of 150 DPI.
• Other Accepted Formats: EPS or AI files.

3. Do you charge per color with DTG?
Nope! Unlike screen printing, DTG uses a CMYK process to print virtually any color without additional setup fees. The price is based on:

• Design size
• Print location(s)
• Garment type (light or dark)
• Machine time

4. Is there a minimum order requirement?
No minimums here! DTG is ideal for small orders—whether it’s a single shirt or a handful of custom pieces.
