How Red Alpha Came to Be: A Story of Service, Passion, and Identity

In 1991, I walked across the stage as a proud graduate of Arlington High School in Arlington, Texas. But my journey had started long before that moment. Back in junior high, I’d already made up my mind about my future. Watching an ROTC drill team presentation sparked something in me—it was then that I knew I wanted to serve my country.

By the time Desert Storm was in full swing, I was a high school junior, training with the local Marine Corps recruiting office. I was ready to join the ranks, but life took a different turn. Despite four years of dedication in Air Force ROTC, the Marine Corps didn't recognize my experience. However, the Army saw my potential and rewarded me with two extra ranks upon enlistment. That recognition made the decision clear: I chose the Army.

After completing Basic Training, I was stationed at Fort Irwin, California, home to the National Training Center. For many, it was just another assignment, but for me, it became a defining chapter in my life. I was part of the 164th Chemical Company, assigned to 3rd Platoon, Red Squad. We were divided into Red and Blue squads, each with small, tight-knit teams from Alpha to Echo. It was here that the call sign "Red Alpha" was born—my squad, my team, my identity.

Fast forward to a few years ago, after running my business under the name Escalona & Associates for a couple of years, I felt it was time for a change. I wanted something that resonated more personally with who I am. And that’s when "Red Alpha Custom Prints" came to life. The name wasn't just something that sounded cool; it was rooted in my past, my values, and the experiences that shaped me.

While Escalona & Associates remains active in managing vendor relations and vehicle wrap financing, Red Alpha has become the heart and soul of what I do today. It’s more than just a business name—it’s a tribute to the squad that shaped my path.

Who knows what the future holds? My line of work might change, but one thing will always remain true: I am, and always will be, Red Alpha.
