Not Everyone Is Supposed to Have the Same Access to Your Life
This week we've been talking about personalities.
We've talked about seeing the treasure in people.
We've talked about how different doesn't mean wrong.
We've talked about how every personality solves a different problem.
All of those things are true.
Every person has value.
Every person deserves dignity.
Every person has a story worth hearing.
But I've also learned something else.
Not every relationship is meant to look the same.
Some people walk into your life to teach you a lesson.
Some come alongside you during a particular season.
Others quietly become part of the foundation you're building your life upon.
The mistake we often make is expecting every relationship to become a lifelong one.
Sometimes we hold on too tightly.
Sometimes we let people carry expectations they were never meant to carry.
I've come to believe that healthy relationships require us to appreciate people without forcing every relationship into the same category.
Some people will come and go rather quickly.
They'll encourage you, challenge you, or open a door for you.
Their role is real, even if it's brief.
Others will stay for a season.
You'll work together.
Grow together.
Learn from one another.
And then life may lead you in different directions.
Then there are the people who stay.
The ones who celebrate your victories.
Speak the truth when you need to hear it.
Stand beside you when life gets difficult.
Those relationships are rare, and they're worth protecting.
Healthy communities welcome people.
Healthy wisdom recognizes that every relationship has a different purpose.
I don't think that's about loving people differently.
I think it's about understanding the role each person was created to play in your journey.
Every person has a story worth hearing.
Not every story becomes a lifelong chapter.
But every chapter can teach us something if we're paying attention.
Over the years, I've realized that one of the healthiest things we can do is understand the different roles people play in our lives.
Some arrive for a moment.
Some stay for a season.
And a few walk beside us for the long haul.
Next week, I'd like to share a simple framework that has helped me better understand why some people come into our lives for a moment, some for a season, and a few for a lifetime.
I hope you'll join me for the conversation.

What Healthy Actually Looks Like
Healthy people learn to love others generously while recognizing that every relationship has a different purpose. Some people arrive for a moment. Others walk beside us for a season. A few become lifelong companions. Wisdom is recognizing the difference without taking away anyone's value.
Healthy relationships aren't about deciding who matters more. They're about understanding that every relationship carries a different responsibility. The healthier we become, the better we recognize who to welcome, who to walk with, and who to trust with the deepest parts of our lives.
