🥊 Lessons Beyond the Cage

In Part 1, we talked about getting knocked down, mindset, and learning how to “strike from any position.”

But in Part 2, our conversation went even deeper — into legacy, purpose, and the why behind everything we do in business and in life.

I told James that even sitting ringside at his youth fights was like a classroom:

💬 “Every single thing is like a lesson — even the way they wrapped the fighters’ hands.”

It’s easy to overlook the details when you’re in the middle of the work. But when you step back and really see the process — the prep, the respect, the discipline — you realize how much life mirrors martial arts.

James and I both agreed that the real work happens long before anyone steps into the ring. Six months, six years, or more — all that unseen effort is what makes the moment possible.

🌱 Planting Seeds, Building Foundations

We talked about the importance of starting young — and how small experiences can shape an entire life.

💬 “Even if they don’t stay martial artists forever, the lessons stick. You’re planting seeds and laying down a foundation that can set them up for life.”

For me, that started at the Boys Club when I was a kid. It opened doors, introduced me to new things, and taught me how to find passion in unexpected places.
That’s what I want to help others find through my own work — especially young entrepreneurs and creatives who just need a chance.

🔥 Vision That Wakes You Up

When James asked what keeps me motivated in business, my answer came from the same place as my faith and discipline:

💬 “There’s an established vision that I’ve had from the very beginning. I wake up every day trying to bring that vision to life.”

I told him that I’ve always imagined the moment someone might ask me, “Did you ever think you’d get here?”
And my honest answer would be:

💬 “Yes — every single day. Because if I didn’t imagine it, I probably would have never accomplished it.”

That vision, that why, has to be so strong that it not only wakes you up — it keeps you going when things get tough.

💬 “Life is going to challenge you, but your vision has to be strong enough to push you through the hard times and keep you humble when things are going good.”

💭 Speaking It Into Existence

Our talk turned to how we turn thoughts into reality — a topic close to both our hearts.

💬 “Words are seed. Actions are seed. Beliefs are seed. I speak things into existence long before they ever manifest.”

Every service, every brand, every product we offer at Red Alpha started that way — as an idea spoken out loud before it ever existed.

It’s not about perfection; it’s about persistence.

💬 “You have to be bad at first. But if you stick with it, you get better. Then you master your craft.”

That mastery changes everything — your confidence, your clients, your calling.
As I told James, “The quality of my clients elevated as I elevated my craft.”

💡 Behind the X’s & O’s of Business

This was also the moment where the heart behind this blog series came out.

💬 “They’ll teach you marketing, SEO, and content — and that’s great. But the true magic is behind the scenes. It’s the conversations no one hears, the late nights, the times you fall and get back up.”

That’s what Behind the X’s & O’s is about — pulling back the curtain to show the real process.
Because what customers see is the finished product. What they don’t see is the hustle, the faith, and the fight that got it there.

💬 “Waking up is a gift, but getting up is a choice.”

💥 The Birth of BullyProof

Before wrapping up, I shared the story behind one of our Red Alpha Originals — BullyProof by Red Alpha.

It wasn’t just a design. It was born from a real moment in my family’s life.

💬 “When my daughter was being bullied in middle school, I told her: Tomorrow, you’re going to stand up for yourself — and I’ll stand by you through it.”

She fought back, got suspended, and had to do community service — but she was never bullied again.
That moment became a metaphor for life: you can avoid unnecessary fights, but you also can’t live being pushed around.

💬 “There’s one thing to raise awareness, but another to build strength — to teach people not to live bullied by life.”

That’s what BullyProof represents: resilience, confidence, and standing your ground when life tests you.

❤️ Closing Thoughts

As we wrapped up the conversation, James thanked me for coming on and said something that stuck with me:

“You might not be a pro fighter, but you understand how to connect the mindset of martial arts to the mindset of business and life.”

That’s what Behind the X’s & O’s of Business is all about — connecting lessons from the mat, the shop, and the journey to something deeper.

James saw that connection. And I’ll always be grateful for that conversation — and for the impact he left behind.
