🛣️ The Road Trip Routine

Every business trip has its rhythm. For us, it’s not just about getting there — it’s about the stops along the way.

We’ve got our route down to a science:

  • Brownwood: Used to be “Cousins” back in the day — the go-to for a quick break before heading into Early.

  • Early: That little spot across from AL’s where we’d grab candy and stretch our legs.

  • Goldthwaite: The Star Mart has become our must-stop. If we skip Brownwood, we make it up here.

  • Lampasas: That main intersection convenience store on the way out of town — not sure what it’s called, but it’s our stop.

  • Coleman: Quick break at the Allsup’s right before the left turn.

🗣️ “We don’t really impulse stop. It’s just part of the rhythm — our mini road trip playbook.”

Sometimes we hit every single one. Sometimes we’re on a tighter schedule and skip a few. But when there’s no rush, it’s all part of the journey.

🎟️ When Time’s Ticking

Last weekend, we had to be somewhere on time — movie tickets in hand, invites sent, no room for delays.
That meant one quick stop, max. Out the door by 9:00, 9:30 latest. Straight through with just enough time to grab something to drink and roll.

It’s funny how different the drive feels when there’s a clock running versus when you’re just cruising.

🍬 Snacks, Water & Traditions

No road trip is complete without the essentials:

  • 💧 Water, always.

  • 🍬 Sweet Tarts — my go-to.

  • 🥭 Tropical trail mix — if I can find it! (The one with the coconut, dried pineapple, and mango.)

😅 “Lately, I haven’t been able to find that tropical mix at any of our stops. Might have to make an H-E-B run soon.”

And of course, the last-minute scramble before we leave never fails: work right up until we’re supposed to go, throw clothes in a bag, grab gear, and hit the road.
Except this time... I forgot my belt and only brought one pair of socks.

🧠 Behind the X’s & O’s

These little trips remind me that routine and rhythm keep things moving smoothly — in business and in life.
Knowing your route, planning your stops, and rolling with small surprises (like missing socks) — it’s all part of the journey.

💬 “The road between projects teaches as much as the projects themselves.”

🎯 Takeaway: The Business Lesson

Even on the road, systems matter.
Whether it’s pit stops or production flow, when you build repeatable habits, everything gets easier. You save time, stress less, and enjoy the ride a whole lot more.
